Associations
A local basketball association is a “shop front” to the local community. The place that customers go to “purchase” their basketball experience. If that experience is value for money, they will shop again and encourage their friends to also shop there. If they don’t enjoy the experience, we have lost a customer!
There are currently 426 affiliated basketball associations in Australia. Basketball Australia with support of state/territory associations are continually developing resources within the 5 on 5 Association Program to assist with the running of local basketball associations.
The 5 on 5 Association Program has been designed to assist local basketball associations of all sizes and locations evaluate and improve how they run. Online checklists help the association to identify areas of strength and those requiring improvement.
The program contains a wide range of resources to assist the association to improve towards implementing “best practice”. It also provides the opportunity for associations to work with external mentors that have experience in that area but also understand the demands and environment of a local association. Indeed, through the program the association can become a mentor for other associations or the association could use the program to help to mentor its clubs.
The program is about improvement and provides an easy to use framework that will help to make continuous improvement a culture not a chore.
Associations move through the program at their own pace and the program enables them to pursue the areas that are of interest to it.
Contact your state/territory association to find out more information on the 5 on 5 Association Program and register to obtain the codes required to access the useful resources available.
