Snell wins Polish League title
Jayco Australian Opals star Belinda Snell dropped a team-high 20 points to guide CCC Polkowice to the 2013 Polish PLKK Championship 78-65.
In an all-Australian battle, Snell’s team swept Wisla Can-Pak 4-0 despite the best efforts of Erin Phillips, who had a game-high 21 points in the final game of the season.
After a nail-biting Game One win, Snell and her regular season champion team looked unstoppable, winning the next three games by an average of more than 15 points.
Snell delivered in the deciding game, dropping 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc to go with 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
The three-time Olympian was a star throughout the series, averaging 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4 assists to cap off a great first season in Poland.
Phillips started with 18 points in Game One before back-to-back quiet games, breaking the drought with 21 points in the series finale. Attention now turns to the WNBA for Phillips, with her Indiana Fever beginning the defence of their WNBA title in a month’s time.
