U20 and IB Champs: Day 1 Wrap
The U20 and IB Championships got underway in Gawler, South Australia on Sunday.

NSW dominated the game. Arden for NSW Country was the difference with her domination of the game.

It was a slow start to the game, but with more ball movement, good defence Victoria were able to take control of the game.
With Victoria in foul trouble, NSW were able to get back into the game during the second half with the domination of Kelly Wren.

NSW took and early lead of 14 points before ACT go on the board. ACT tried hard, but their shots were just not dropping. ACT made a good comeback at the start of the 3rd quarter, but NSW rallied again and left ACT unable to stop the outside shots.

Teams were evenly matched early in the game, with both teams scoring well inside. Quick movement enable NSW to score more freely in the 2nd quarter. A fightback by Tas in the last quarter with dominant performances at both ends by Cleary, but they just fell short of the mark.

Qld’s shooting percentage was a telling factor in the game. Their skills and strength enabled them to control the game over the Tasmanian team full of endeavour.

SA start strongly and established a lead early. They managed to find enough options to maintain their lead.

During the first half, ACT were kept in the game by Mark Dahlberg, who scored 17 of their 33 points. Vic were more even with many sharing the scoring for them, however, they had too many players in foul trouble.

It was a closely fought out game with many changes of the lead in the last quarter. No quarter was given up easily by either side.

Both teams came out at a fast pace, but SA got the quick jump in the scoring. TAS had few answers to the tight defence and strong offence of SA.

Wa started strong in the 1st quarter but SA fought back. A good consistent, hard fought quarter from both sides with WA holding a slight advantage at half time. A spirited last 4 minutes from SA in the 3rd before WA rallied. WA by 5 at the last change. Strong last quarter by SA saw them win by 4.

The game was a fast paced physical game with Victoria well on top. They came out comfortable winners.

Poor shooting and fouling by Vic let NSW gain an early advantage. Steadied by Alodobasic and defending well, Vic took control in the second quarter. Aldobasic was unstoppable and Vic blocked most of NSW scoring options to win easily.
