Jayco Opals star Penny Taylor returns to Oz
Australian Jayco Opals star Penny Taylor has decided to leave the current European Basketball season early and will return home to Melbourne this week.
Taylor, who has been playing for club Fenerbahce in the highly regarded Euroleague, has cited personal reasons, including a family illness, for taking a break from the game.
"I have loved playing for such a proud club with such passionate fans. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with Fenerbahce, and regret that I must leave to address some personal issues in my life. I have therefore made the difficult decision that these things must take priority over basketball at this time."
Taylor wished her teammates and the club success for the remaining part of the season.
"I know that the quality of the players on the team combined with the fighting spirit of the club will see their successful season continue, and I wish the players and the club the greatest success."
Taylor has been in career best form and is currently the Euroleague's third-leading scorer, averaging 19 points per game. Taylor's team Fenerbahce is undefeated in Euroleague play and also leads the Turkish Basketball League table.

Although I had an undescribable disappointment and pain due to your departure from Fenerbahce as we are approaching the Final Four organization of Euroleague, I personally do believe that you had justifiable reasons in terms of making this decision since we as Fenerbahce fans adored yourself more than any other player ever contributed Fenerbahce up to now.
No matter what they say, your tears would not ever be forgotton when we beat up Galatasaray in their home court with your extraordinary performance ended up raising the championship trophy in your hands since Fenerbahce always recall those who had left their trace and made sacrifice for its legendary history.
Go Penny! You will never walk alone and always be remembering with the glories you have given to us...
The last thing we wish from you to carry out is to place your seat during Final Four games and show your support to your teammates...
