French assignment for Boomers
The Australian Boomers will play their final game before setting off for London and the 2012 Olympic Games in Strasbourg tomorrow morning (AEST).
On the back of the tough loss to Brazil, the Boomers will be out to bounce back against a French side sporting more than its fair share of NBA-calibre talent.
Leading the French charge will be star guard Tony Parker, the 2007 NBA Final MVP, who along with countryman Boris Diow, are teammates of Boomers’ point guard Patty Mills at the San Antonio Spurs.
While Parker is sure to keep the Australian guards busy, the French will have their hands full trying to contain the likes of David Andersen and Aron Baynes.
The frontcourt duo were again impressive in the 87-71 loss to Brazil, with Andersen scoring seven of his 16 points (and 10 rebounds) in the final quarter, while Baynes finished with 12 points (5-of-7 shooting) and was again a strong presence in the paint.
The Boomers will again look to Mills to lead the offensive charge after his best shooting display of the tour against Brazil, making 5-of-9 for 14 points.
Action gets underway at the Rhenus Sports arena at 3:30am AEST with live updates available on the FIBA Live Stats: http://www.fibalivestats.com/matches/3886/05/76/64/568LtTkEUdSPc/.
