Opals start with a win over Great Britain + VIDEO
Lauren Jackson led the way as the Opals tipped-off their London campaign with a win.
The Australian Opals have defeated host nation Great Britain 74-58 to open their London campaign.
Facing a team led by former Opals head coach Tom Maher, the Australians actually trailed early before an 11-0 burst to open the second period saw them assert themselves over the Brits. They were never headed again.
Lauren Jackson showed that carrying the flag at the Opening Ceremony the night before hadn't hurt her performance at all, leading the Opals with 18 points and five rebounds.
Suzy Batkovic added 12 points and seven rebounds. In a balanced scoring performance, three other players had eight points.
